About Us

The story of The Juice Stop begins many, many years ago with two Brooklyn high school sweethearts. Wyatt Derrick and Jessica Cruz Derrick are avid juicers who fled the brutal New York winters for the dream of opening their own cold-pressed juice oasis in sunny South Florida. The couple started dating when they were sixteen, but have actually been friends from the time they were next-door neighbors at the tender age of five and four years old.

Wyatt and Jessica have extensive restaurant experience and both have leveraged the healing benefits of cold-pressed juicing and an organic diet as it applies to their own individual lives. Wyatt began his career in the restaurant industry working in prep kitchens at the age of sixteen. His hard work and dedication to his trade would see him reach the position of salaried manager in under ten months, then quickly promoted to regional manager. After years of grueling road travel, Wyatt shifted gears to work at various NYC and DC restaurants, finally settling in Northern Virginia. Here, Wyatt became General Manger of a six million dollar European restaurant with a 100% scratch kitchen (where every dish) is produced from raw ingredients while overseeing multiple chefs. Then, a catastrophic car accident in 2013 almost cost him his life, resulting in two critical, life-altering surgeries and enough internal metallic hardware to justify a full TSA pat-down. Physical and mental recovery was daunting and difficult, but with wife Jessica by his side and the power of good nutrition, Wyatt regained his physical strength and mental clarity once again.

In a parallel move, Jessica Cruz Derrick began her career at a New York City Italian restaurant at the age of – you guessed it, sixteen. She worked her way into a lead server position before turning her sights to Brooklyn College where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Soon thereafter, Jessica was faced with a major setback while battling a number auto-immune diseases including alopecia, vitiligo, and eczema. Thankfully, it was around this time that the Derricks discovered how a healthy lifestyle could eradicate all the auto-immune diseases that were afflicting her. Jessica comes from a large and close knit family where values and integrity are paramount. She is the product of altruistic parents, her father a NYC landlord, and her mother a career EPA worker. As Wyatt puts it, “Jessica has the DNA of everything you want in a human with a caring soul.”

Opening The Juice Stop was an act of inevitable destiny, branded in a fashion that pays homage to their serendipitous and blessed Brooklyn roots.
